NO FORWARD - Serious transmission failure in almost all cases NO UPSHIFT - Less serious, as in vacuum related, throttle cable or governor. NOISE IN LOWER GEARS - Difficult diagnosis, can be anything from gears to a bad transmission mount (insulator) . HARD SHIFTING - Usually less serious, in nature such as vacuum or throttle adjustment. SOFT SHIFTING - Late and soft shifting is not a good thing. Early signs of soft or slipping shifts become normal when adjusted upward.
